Egyhetes rendezvénysorozattal ünnepli meg szülővárosa, Baltimore Frank Zappa mellszobrának felavatását. A fesztivál egyik kiemelkedő eseményeként a legendás zeneszerző, gitáros, énekes fia, Dweezil koncerttel tiszteleg apja emléke előtt.

A szoboravatót szeptember 19-én tartják, az alkotás Zappa litvániai rajongóinak ajándéka. A rockzenész ugyan soha nem járt a balti államban, de az ottani avantgárd körökben nagy népszerűségnek örvendett. Csodálói szobrot állítottak neki a litván fővárosban, Vilniusban, és ennek pontos mását adományozták Zappa szülővárosának.

Július 15-től augusztus 19-ig minden csütörtökön a retróé a főszerep a budai Tabán moziban. A ZeneButik nevű vetítéssorozat folyamán hat alkotást nézhetünk meg a film és a zene határterületéről: jórészt az elmúlt évek legnagyobb sikert aratott zenés filmjeit.

Read on for the announcement: Crossfire Publications is in the process of releasing a 20-volume series of recordings from the pre-Mothers era, with many unreleased tracks featured. The most notable releases in the series come from Paul Buff, owner of Pal Studios in Cucamonga, California from 1957-1964.

"Mayor Sheila Dixon has declared Monday as "Frank Zappa Day" in Baltimore.

The eccentric musician was born in Baltimore on Dec. 21, 1940. He died in 1993.
Last week, Baltimore's public art commission decided that it will erect a bust of Zappa outside a public library.
